This is so true BUT so often completely misunderstood.
Take the vegan activist movement for example.
They're making their own rules, rules about entry onto other peoples property, rules about taking animals out of their confines, rules about aggressively challenging people who choose to eat meat or choose to raise animals for food production, and even rules about whether it is OK to disrupt the traffic and travel of other people in busy cities by gluing themselves to the road. Their intention is to make the world a better place, but do their actions make the world a better place?
I
live a vegan lifestyle, but I am not and never will be a vegan
activist. Because making my own rules doesn't mean pushing back against
anything. The vegan activist's actions (that have included
trespassing, stealing and accusing people) come from a place of
frustration, anger, disgust and even revenge (on behalf of the
animals). Any actions that come from those emotions do not make the
world a better place despite the intentions.
So
how do I do life my way, live by own rules and make the world a better
place? By living in this material world whilst remembering my spiritual
strength, my connection to who I really am. Then I have my own rules
and those rules are made by Love/Spirit, so they are compassionate,
benevolent, loving and joyful.
Make the world a better place with spiritual strength.
When I live in connected way, when I can feel my spiritual strength
and spiritual guidance I know that I'll be guided towards what I want
and in a way that benefits everyone. I feel complete. I feel happy,
confident, joyous,
enthusiastic, whole, complete, empowered and I'm living life my way, the
way that only I can.
This way I find my life becomes effortless and I can do more of what makes me happy.
When we feel
empowered like this we are making the world a better place, we are empowering
others, we are healthy enough to help the sick, we are energetic enough to look
out for others, we are alert enough to avoid accidents, we are creative enough
to share beauty and we are in no way a burden to others. This makes the world a better place.
If you want to live this way too, the best way to get started is to
become sensitive to your emotions. I know, everyone has told you that
your emotional sensitivity is a weakness not a strength, but that advice
comes from people who live from their mind, who believe that hard work
is the only way to succeed.
Your emotions are your guide to your spiritual strength, the secret
is to be able to observe your emotions in a non-judgement way and with
total, unconditional acceptance. This means you're observing your
emotions instead of reacting to your emotions (important distinction
because reacting to your emotions will get you in all sorts of
trouble!).
Observing your emotions this way and increasing your emotional
sensitivity will take a little practice, take it steady, be gentle with
yourself. In my experience, mastering this, is the the gateway to great
spiritual strength. Dr Eben Alexander talked about taking notice of our emotions in this episode of the More Love Podcast and Anne talked about being non judgemental in this episode of More Love Podcast.
The great thing about life is that you
can find another way at anytime even when everyone else is telling you
that there's only one way.
