That Family Constellations Work Dissolved Hidden Dynamics In My Family

This More Love Podcast episode with Rob Foster delves into the his work as a Systemic and Family Constellation counselor.  I found Family Constellation work quite hard to explain/understand until Rob worked through an aspect of my family constellation.  

As I explained one side of my family tree to Rob, I mentioned that my Grandmother had lost a brother at a young age in a horse riding accident.  Rob and I were able to 'map' my family constellation and work through the entanglements that that loss of life had left.  

Now, I'm not saying that family constellation work is only relevant when there's been death of family member, rather, I'm using my family as the example to help explain what his work does.  So what did it do?  Rob, through the family constellation he created for my family, was able to tap into negative patterns that had been held in our family tree that none of us could see or explain.  Hidden patterns that were evident in the family dynamic but had become normalised and thus invisible or hidden to us.

The hidden family dynamic...

Rob was also able to 'map' how the burden of the grief over that boy's death had been transferred down through the generations and was able to free me of the burden I had 'agreed' to carry.  After the session I felt lighter, freer and glad for my session.  Interestingly, the individual session I had was able to work through the family constellation process even though it was just me -  thanks to the ultimate connectedness that we all exist within!

We also talked about mental health, consciousness and the challenges of spiritual journey.  We talked about how to stay safe as you grow and explore your spiritual self.  Rob was also very specific in advising us all that if we want to do systemic and family constellation work that we must find a qualified professional to work with.  We also were very specific that this work does not increase traumatic stress, rather through loving consciousness the family constellations work releases trauma effortlessly.

Although we used my family as the example in this More Love Podcast episode please don't misunderstand my position on this work.  I do not think that family and systemic constellation work is the only way of achieving release of hidden family patterns.  However, it's a unique way way of tapping into the field of consciousness or universe at a conscious level (this is not hypnotherapy) to release underlying dynamics or patterns that we may or may not otherwise identify.  The systemic constellations work seeks to restore natural order in the family constellation.  

Did I NEED family constellations therapy?

I want to be clear, that I will never say that there is one size that fits all.  No.  That's not the case.  Consciousness is far more quantum than that!  

I feel that I benefited from my session with Rob, however, I don't feel that it was the only way to release the burden for myself and our family.    The reason I want to be clear about this is because the spiritual journey for you and for me, is about empowerment; self empowerment.  What it's not about, is reliance on a therapy, a person, a guru, a symbol or a mythology.  I know Rob wholeheartedly agrees because we talked about it, you will hear it too.  

Although I wasn't able to explicitly explain the burden of the grief that the death of my Grandmother's brother had left in our family tree or family constellation, in my opinion, it wasn't the only way I could've released that burden.  Why?  Because old issues that are burdensome are evident in our present moment life experience and can be released with a willingness to connect to energetic field of conscious awareness instead of playing the old patterns of the thinking mind.  

Was the constellation process the fastest way to release the hidden family pattern?  I can't say.  I can say it expanded my conscious awareness and conscious experience of my family experience.  Together with my deep understanding about the effects of rejected and resisted emotions, it was a freeing experience.
